A message from Mr Barton

This week got off to a difficult start with the very unfortunate road accident which made it impossible for some pupils (and staff!) to get here.  Many of you spent a very long time in the car and whether or not you managed to get to school in the end, I would like to thank everybody for their efforts on that extraordinary day.

The rest of the week has gone smoothly, though, and if you've been following us on Twitter (@PensfordPrimary) you will already know that we have now confirmed the format for our Christmas Concert.  This will involve all the pupils in an evening of songs and readings at Publow Church and will include a short nativity play led by Dragonfly class.  The teachers have been busy putting the final touches to the plans and rehearsals will begin next week.  We hope that all of you will be able to join us at Tuesday 13 December at 6pm at the church for this event.

Thank-you too for all the contributions to Children in Need.  The school looked very colourful today with so many children dressed brightly and in their 'spotty' outfits.  Altogether we raised £91.30.

We are aware that already this year we have asked parents to contribute to a number of causes: The Roald Dahl Charity, the Poppy Appeal and Children in Need, as well as donations made through the Dragonfly class food festival and the cake sale in aid of MacMillan Nurses.  We have been asked whether we will also be taking part in 'Christmas Jumper Day' on the last day of term, in aid of Save the Children.  Because we have already held the several charity events mentioned above, we will not be running this particular event as well - particularly because it could involve a relatively expensive purchase of a jumper per child.  However, in the spirit of Christmas we will hold a non-uniform day on Wednesday 14th December on which NO DONATIONS are requested.  This will coincide with our Christmas lunch (see below) and some party games in the afternoon for each class.  For those who love their Christmas jumpers, this will be an opportunity to wear yours in school!

Enjoy your weekend.

Mr Barton

Farewell to Bonnie

Today marked a sad 'goodbye' in Dragonfly class and for the school as it was Bonnie's last day in school for the time being.  She and her family will be embarking in an exciting trip overseas and we send our very best wishes with them on their journey.  All of our Reception pupils, including Bonnie, have settled in very well since September and she will be missed in the coming months.  We really look forward to welcoming her back in the spring.
