Newsletter 4th September - Issue 1
Dear Parents and Carers
Welcome back to all and a special ‘Hello!’ to all of our new pupils, who have settled into their new learning routine beautifully.
We are proud of all of your children this week. They have all come into school very happily and have been working very hard in their classes all week.
Celebration as usual will begin next week.
A huge, huge thank you to Kate Croker and to Lisa Cains for organising the Village Fun Day, and for all other parents who helped manning stalls, setting up/taking down, selling raffle tickets, etc. The weather was wonderful and nearly all of the school community and the village community came along. The atmosphere was lovely, almost festival like , with children and parents enjoying a huge variety of events throughout the whole day. The children have benefited from the fund-raising too, and we’ll let you know soon what classes now have as a result.
We have a new face in our office on a Thursday and Friday, Mrs Sally Coe. Please be gentle with her whilst she has her induction.
Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 are very fortunate this year to be having specialist music tuition. Year 3 and 4 will be learning how to play the ukulele and Year 5 and 6, the clarinet. Pensford Music Festival Group have made this possible by providing the funding, for which we are really grateful. These year groups will also be receiving specialist PE provision each Thursday afternoon.
I haven’t forgotten the issue regarding the road outside the school. I was very concerned to see that there has been yet another accident, directly outside the school. Letters from the school will be sent to the various parties very, very soon but before I send them, I would like to update my knowledge. I heard, at the end of term 6, that a meeting was going to happen over the summer holidays in Pensford, giving more information to residents. I wonder if any such event took place? If any parents attended, please come to see me and discuss the outcome.
Thank you and best wishes
