Admissions

Welcome to Pensford Primary School

There is a lot to think about before your child starts - whether they are joining Dragonfly Class in September or are moving mid way through the school year.

Reception Intake September 2017

If your child was born between 1st September 2012 and 31st August 2013 he/she is able to start school in September 2017.  With so many recent staff changes, results above national averages and a refreshed curriculum, our small village school is a great choice. Our shared school value of 'Happiness' is our first priority for all the children.  Particularly if you live in the Chew Valley or Keynsham area please do pay us a visit.  We are holding an open day on Monday, 3rd October from 8:00am to 6:00pm.  Or you can contact us to arrange a time that suits you.

Applications must be made to the Local Authority in which you live even if you are wanting to be considered for a place at a school situated within a different Local Authority area.  You can click here to reach the Bath and North East Somerset Schools Admissions online page.

Starting the Reception Year in Dragonfly Class

When you have received your formal offer of a place from B&NES, information letters are then sent out from the school at the end of May outlining arrangements for your child's start of school. Parents are invited to a 'New Parents' Information Evening' in June where you are given the opportunity to meet with class teachers, PTA members, existing parents and their children.

Your child will also have the opportunity to make several short visits to school in term 6 (summer term), some with you and some without your and details of this programme will be in the information letter.

All the children who attend other preschools will be invited together in separate sessions. We look forward to meeting you and beginning our partnership with you as parents.

All children attend a full school day right from the start but if you would prefer your child to have a phased introduction to school, please make an appointment to speak to the class teacher to discuss how best to achieve this.

What they should wear

Details of the school uniform can be found by clicking here .

Dropping off and collecting your child

School starts each day at 8.55am and children should arrive at school and go into their classrooms at 8.45. Do not leave them before 8.45 as there is no supervision before this time.  The registers stay open until 9.00am - after this time they will be marked as late.

Morning break is from 10.20 - 10.35am and lunch is taken from 12.00 - 1.10pm. You will be given more details about arrangements for school meals in the infomation booklet in June or alternatively you can view more information under our 'Parents' section of this website.

School finishes at 3.15pm for Dragonfly and 3.20pm for Otter and Kingfisher. Please wait in the area next to the school hall until your child's teacher brings them out to you.

If you live in the village or close by then please help reinforce your child's healthy lifestyle and cut congestion by walking to school. If you need to drive then please consider parking at the memorial hall as it's not far to walk.

Our school follows the school admissions policy guidance provided Bath and North East Somerset Council.
